Ep 260 - Ordinary People Are Easily Disturbed; Don't Be Ordinary, Be Great

Even good people can do bad things in moments when emotions are high. It’s all too easy to lose control. We must strive to have a certain level of stoicism. And that must be maintained. Funakoshi emphasized that karate training is about spiritual development and the perfection of character. Tim and Steve discuss this and more on this episode.

"A truly great man is not disturbed even when suddenly confronted with an unexpected event or crisis, nor angered upon finding himself in situations not of his own making. This is because he has a great heart and his aim is high. An ordinary man will draw his sword when ridiculed, and will fight risking his life, but he may not be called a courageous man." — Master Gichin Funakoshi, “Father of Modern Karate”

"It takes ten times as long to put yourself back together as it does to fall apart." — Suzanne Collins
