Ep 107 - Mastery is a Mystery
Knowing your worth, realizing your value, working hard to become very skilled at something and taking pride in that competence is completely different than "mastering" something. In martial arts a Sensei is a person who has knowledge and is willing to teach that knowledge to others, and the title of Master can be used to address a very experienced practitioner.
An honorable title is one thing, but can anyone really have mastery of anything? And if they do, will they always have that mastery? We believe mastery is elusive, relative, and fleeting.
Setting martial arts aside, believing in mastery of anything can be dangerous. Once a person thinks they no longer need to work at and maintain priorities, that often begins their descent.
